Dr Andrew Martin is a neurologist based in Blacktown, practicing general neurology but with a strong clinical focus on the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. His areas of particular interest include Parkinson’s disease, tremor, and dystonia, where he applies a patient-centred and evidence-based approach to care.
Dr Martin completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Sydney in 2012. He went on to achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the Adult Medicine Division. He also holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Health Science from the University of Sydney. He underwent post graduate training at Nepean, Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals. He completed the John Morris fellowship in movement disorders at Westmead Hospital. He currently holds a position at Blacktown hospital, and remains part of the movement disorders unit based in Westmead.
In addition to his subspecialty interests, Dr Martin provides comprehensive care across a wide range of neurological conditions. He regularly treats patients with headaches (including migraines), epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, vestibular disorders (such as vertigo), and neuromuscular disorders. He follows a patient-centred approach, and takes the time to listen and treat patients in a holistic manner.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Martin is actively involved in research and continues to publish within the field of neurology, with over 25 publications in international, peer reviewed journals. He has a strong comittment to education and learning, and has presented at international conferences. His ongoing academic contributions ensure he remains at the forefront of emerging knowledge and advancements in neurological care.
