About Dr Andrew Chong
Mr Andrew Chong is a General Surgeon with specialist expertise in Upper Gastrointestinal (GI), Bariatric and Endocrine surgery. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011, during which time he completed a year of research at Imperial College London in the UK. He went on to undertake General Surgery training through Monash Health and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2021. Following his fellowship, Mr Chong completed a specialised Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery fellowship in Singapore, where he developed advanced skills in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He subsequently undertook a further year of post-fellowship training in Upper GI and Endocrine surgery at Northern Health. During this time, he gained extensive experience in managing both benign and malignant upper GI conditions, as well as thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disorders, in addition to treating a broad spectrum of surgical emergencies in one of the state’s busiest emergency departments. Mr Chong is accredited by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) and performs both diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures. He operates privately at Mulgrave Private Hospital, St John of God Berwick, Knox Private Hospital and Peninsula Private Hospital. He consults at Dandenong North and at St John of God Berwick, and also practises publicly at Northern Health and Eastern Health.
