Dr. Stephanie Stewart is a registered Psychologist. They are warm, non-judgemental and collaborative in their approach to therapy. Their practice is both affirming of the humanity inherent in even our most difficult and 'othered' experiences, and attendant to the ways in which we are all unique and uniquely situated. At the centre of their practice is respect for self-determination, our right to define a meaningful life for ourselves and to make our own choices.
Dr. Stewart has experience working with people in difficult circumstances and people who experience the world differently. They have a particular interest in working with people who feel subject to their thoughts or impulses, rather than in control of what they do. It is important to Dr. Stewart that their practice is safe and affirming, including for people from the LGBTIQA+ community and culturally diverse backgrounds. Their practice is informed by knowledge of systemic injustices and their effects, and the impacts of interpersonal and other forms of trauma.
