Mrs Kalaivani Lingam is a Consultant Gynaecologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience specialising in the treatment of urogynaecological conditions and general gynaecological problems. Mrs Lingam routinely performs procedures such as laparoscopic surgery or hysterectomy for endometriosis and fibroids, endometrial ablation for heavy periods, and pelvic floor repair.
She worked at Queens Hospital Burton where she succesfully developed and ran a paediatric adolescent gynaecology service and as lead urogynaecologist of her unit in Burton Hospital, she was awarded National Accreditation in Urogynaecology status, fifth such unit in the United Kingdom, signifying her work in urogynaecology as high quality of care.
She currently works only works privately at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital and Derby Private Health.
Mrs Lingam graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1987, training in the West of Scotland in Obstetrics and Gynaecology while also taking 3 years out to train in Female Urology and General Surgery. Following her training, in 1992, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. During her training in gynaecology, she was exposed to a wide range of conditions, ultimately developing a special interest in incontinence, prolapse and minimally invasive surgery. She was awarded her Membership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1996 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2010.
Mrs Lingam sees patients with a broad range of conditions, including the following:
Management of recurrent uti/Painful Bladder syndrome
Menopause and hormone imbalance
Pelvic floor prolapse including prolapse of womb, bladder, bowel and vagina- offering pessaries and surgery
Endometriosis
Painful intercourse
Polyps, cervical and uterine,, cervical smear testing
Menstrual disorders, including heavy irregular painful periods
Fibroids
Well women checks
Vulvar conditions (including vulvodynia, vestibulitis and lichen sclerosus)
Ovarian cysts
Pelvic pain
Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
Urinary incontinence both stress and urge incontinence
Sexual dysfunction
Interstitial cystitis
Early pregnancy problems
Prolapse
