Subsequently, he completed an integrated six-year residency programme in General Surgery with specialist training in laparoscopic and upper gastrointestinal surgery at the University Hospital of Patras (UHP) in Patra, Greece and the Research Institute Against Digestive Cancer (IRCAD) in Strasbourg, France.

He obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2008 and completed further higher specialist training in bariatric and metabolic surgery at the Bariatric and Metabolic Unit at University Hospitals of Patras, Greece. To further develop his expertise, he completed a Fellowship in Emergency General Surgery and Trauma at King’s College Hospital in 2012 and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon.

He was awarded a PhD for his work on Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery by the University of Patras, Greece in 2013. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2016.

He is accredited as a Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital London where he treats patients with clinical obesity.
