Mr
Mr Kerry Acton
Orthopaedic Surgery
About
Mr. Acton's undergraduate and basic surgical training was in London and his Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics began on the Stanmore rotation and was completed on the South West Thames rotation in London, Surrey and Sussex. He completed the Wellington Knee Surgery Fellowship and was the first Furlong Fellow, completing a year of specialist training in revision hip and knee surgery. He has delivered prize winning presentations at academic meetings and published research in peer reviewed journals. During his training he sat on the Royal College of Surgeons Specialist Advisory Committee for Orthopaedics as well as the Intercollegiate Board, overseeing the FRCS exam.
Mr. Acton is one of the busiest surgeons in the region, carrying out more hip and knee replacements annually than the vast majority of his peers as evidenced by the National Joint Registry. He also has one of the lowest revision rates of his own joint replacements in the country. He continues to innovate to improve orthopaedic outcomes and is actively involved in research both with the University of Surrey and in running clinical trials based at the Royal Surrey. He is regularly invited to teach, lecture and demonstrate his surgical techniques in the UK and internationally in Europe, Asia and Australasia. He runs a senior clinical fellowship, helping the next generation of surgeons to transition from trainee to independent consultant.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
