Mr Nielsen graduated from St Georges Hospital London in 1997. He then undertook his Orthopaedic training in South East England. To complement his general orthopaedic training, he had 18 months specialist training in foot and ankle surgery and also spent 2 years in a centre for complex trauma and limb reconstruction. He established the Foot and Ankle unit at St Georges in 2008 and continues to provide foot and ankle expertise to the local population as well as seeing tertiary referrals from around the region.

Mr Nielsen has a keen interest in developing surgeons of the future and regularly teaches at national education meetings. he was director of Orthopaedic training in South London for 6 years prior to taking on the role as Deputy Head of the Post Graduate School of Surgery in London for the last 8 years. He has been instrumental over the last few years in improving junior doctor training along with the introduction and development  of physicians associates to the trust.

Mr Dominic Nielsen has published work extensively on orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery as well as general orthopaedic and medical education.
