Mr David Ilsley
General Surgery · West Yorkshire
About
He has expertise in the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), as well as anal conditions such as haemorrhoids. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of bowel conditions, including bowel cancer, diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease. He also treats anal problems such as haemorrhoids, skin tags, and anal fistulas or fissures. He has additional interests in gallbladder disease and hernia surgery.
Mr Ilsley is an accredited endoscopist and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon and part of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. Each year, he undertakes 100–150 colonoscopies and 60–70 keyhole procedures. In total, he has performed 1,000 bowel operations, giving him extensive experience in this field.
Mr Ilsley is on the Spire Elland Medical Advisory Committee. He is also on the teaching faculty for colonoscopy at the East Yorkshire School of Endoscopy.
For every patient with bowel cancer that he operates on, he submits data to the National Bowel Cancer Audit, working to look at current practice and any areas for improvement in the future.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
