Dr Choi graduated from the University of Otago in 2004. He went on to undertake basic surgical training at The Alfred Hospital and was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Orthopaedic Surgery program in 2008. In 2012, he completed his Australian Orthopaedic Association fellowship. He has trained at a number of hospitals including Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Southern Health, and Peninsula Health. Mr Choi has also achieved a scholarship from The Spine Society of Australia and travelled to Hong Kong to train in complex spine surgery. Additionally, he has completed an AO spine fellowship at St Mary's Hospital in South Korea where he gained expertise in minimally invasive surgery in particular DLIF, SIJ fusions, adult scoliosis, and microscopic spinal surgeries. While he was in Seoul, he gained the Spine Society of Australia Fellowship Prize.
Dr Choi speaks both English and Korean.
In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and soccer.
