Er   ist   auf   die   konservative   und   operative   Behandlung   von   Knie-   Schulter-   und   Hüftgelenken spezialisiert und hat durch seine langjährige Erfahrung im In- und Ausland eine hohe Expertise aufzuweisen. Besonders viel Augenmerk wird indes auf die sorgfältige Untersuchung und exakte Diagnosestellung gelegt. Dabei wird auf die individuellen Bedürfnisse der Patienten eingegangen, wofür er sich ausreichend Zeit nimmt. Dies betrifft nicht nur die Akutbehandlung per se, sondern auch die Nachbetreuung, weshalb mit dem sogenannten   klinischen   Outcome  die   Wirksamkeit   und   der   Erfolg   der   Behandlung dokumentiert wird. Doz. Widhalm besucht regelmäßig nationale sowie internationale Kongresse und tauscht sich permanent mit Kollegen über die neuesten wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse aus. Folglich ist er ein ausgewiesener Spezialist in der Behandlung von   Sportverletzungen, insbesondere   von   Knie-, Schulter-   und   Sprunggelenksverletzungen, aber   auch   von   Handgelenks-   und   Hüftverletzungen. Darüber hinaus werden von Doz. Widhalm alle Arten von Knochenbrüchen, wie auch Muskel- und Sehnenverletzungen   nach   neuestem   Stand   der   Medizin   sowie   unter   Anwendung   minimalinvasiver Techniken versorgt. Auch in der Behandlung von Arthrosen, zeichnete sich   Doz.Widhalm   besonders   aus, wobei   Hüft-   und   Kniegelenksersatz-Operationen zu seinem Spezialgebiet zählt. Die Ordination ist klimatisiert, barrierefrei sowie technisch auf dem neuesten Stand, so dass es den Patienten eine angenehme Atomsphäre bietet.

Neben seiner Tätigkeit an der Univ.-Klinik in Wien, ist Doz.Widhalm u.a. als Lehrender aber auch als betreuender Sportarzt bei diversen hochkarätigen Sportveranstaltungen tätig. Zu den behandelnden Athleten zählen mittlerweile viele Profisportler sowie Olympia-Teilnehmer, vorwiegend aus dem Segel-, Leichtathletik- und Tennissport.
