Mr. George Tselentakis is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery. Since qualifying in Greece and completing basic surgical training in the London SW Thames region, he has been a consultant since 2002.
Mr. Tselentakis has performed over 3,000 knee replacements, including both primary and revision procedures, and a comparable number of ligament reconstruction surgeries, from simple to complex cases. Additionally, he has conducted more than 7,000 cartilage procedures, such as meniscectomies, meniscal repairs, and cartilage regeneration, encompassing both arthroscopic and open surgeries. He maintains a busy practice, handling over 800 knee surgeries annually, evenly divided between the NHS and private sectors.
Mr. Tselentakis has received seven Clinical Excellence Awards, recognising his contributions to both the managerial and clinical aspects of orthopaedic care. After earning his FRCS in 1994, Mr. Tselentakis undertook research at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry under Professor J.B. Richardson, which culminated in a PhD. He continued his training in the North West Rotation, completing his higher orthopaedic surgical training in Manchester and obtaining his FRCS (Tr&Orth) qualification. He further honed his skills through a knee fellowship at the Royal Bolton Hospital in 2001 and visits to renowned knee centres internationally.
From 2010 to 2018, Mr. Tselentakis served as the Lead Clinician of the Orthopaedic Department at East Surrey Hospital. In 2014, he was appointed Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where he trains medical students, junior doctors, and senior surgical trainees through his Knee Fellowship Programme. His clinical interests include Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction, autologous treatments, computer-assisted surgery, and meniscal repair.
