About

Dr Man (Ben) Ko is a Senior Consultant Paediatrician based at Barts NHS Trust and he also sees patients privately, including at The Harley Street Clinic and The Portland Hospital.

He has over 20 years' experience as an NHS Consultant and an extensive clinical portfolio within neurodisability and child development. This covers physical and learning disabilities, autism and the full range of developmental disorders.

Dr Ko graduated from Edinburgh University and then undertook further training, rotating through tertiary centres, including Great Ormond Street Hospital London and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, He was previously Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital, prior to his current NHS appointment. He holds a Department of Health national level Clinical Excellence Award, which is only bestowed to the top 10% of UK consultants.

His approach is parent and child centred, allowing parents and children to make decisions with the best possible opinion and options. He provides robust, evidence based developmental diagnosis, which many parents find invaluable in helping to choose intervention and secure support for their children. He has also worked with the Motor Disorder Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital and so has expertise in medical assessment and management of children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.

Dr Ko has held numerous offices at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is currently an Advisor to the Neurodisability Training Committee. He was a ministerial advisor to the Department of Work and Pensions and has contributed to central government policies for disabled children.
