Dr. Costas Papageorgiou is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Priory Hospital Altrincham. He completed his clinical psychology training at the University of Liverpool. During his clinical training, Dr. Papageorgiou undertook experience at the Oxford University Department of Psychiatry and assisted in experimental treatment studies that are now an integral part of the NICE recommended psychological cognitive behavioural therapy guidelines. He also undertook specialist clinical training in Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Interpersonal therapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Dr. Papageorgiou has extensive experience as a clinical psychologist since 1997 working in numerous facilities. Alongside his clinical work he was also appointed a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, he was the Deputy Director of the Specialist Service of Affective Disorders in Manchester and a Senior lecturer in the University of Lancaster.

Dr. Papageorgiou has greatly contributed to research and his expertise has focused on cognitive-behavioural and metacognitive theories and therapies for emotional disorders, particularly depression and anxiety disorders. He has also co-authored a self-help book "Coping with Depression: A guide to what works for patients, carers, and professionals" and "Depressive Rumination: Nature, Theory and Treatment".

Dr. Papageorgiou is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist (CPsychol) of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Scientist (CSci) of the Science Council. He is a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society (DCP/BPS) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
