About
Professor Williams earned his primary medical qualification at Monash University, after which he was awarded a medicine scholarship at the Alfred Hospital. He then went on to undertake his training at the various hospitals in the UK, and upon his return to Melbourne, decided to specialise in Neurology, continuing his training at St Vincent's Hospital and The Alfred Hospital. He then gained further knowledge and expertise in neurosurgery in London and joined the Reta Lila Weston Institute research team to study Movement Disorders and Parkinson's Disease, allowing him to earn his Ph.D. at the University of London. During this time he gained expertise and knowledge in movement disorders with Professor Andrew Lees; deep brain stimulation surgery with Professor Patricia Limousin and Dr. Carla Cordivari.
Professor Williams then gained membership with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and returned to Melbourne as a leading Clinician in the field of Neurology, working at the Van Cleef Roet Centre for Nervous Diseases, where he was later appointed Director of the Movement Disorders Research Program.
