About Dr Cosimo Loperfido
Dr Cosimo Loperfido is a periodontist based at The Dental Gallery in Ealing, London. He specialises in periodontology as well as the surgical and restorative elements of implant dentistry. He earned his dental degree in 1997 from the University of Bari in Italy before going on to complete post-graduate study in oral surgery at the same university. He then spent time as a dental officer in the Italian Navy before travelling to the Netherlands to undertake a three-year post-graduate periodontal training programme approved by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). In 2004, he earned a Diploma and Master of Science (MSc.) in Periodontology from the University of Nijmegen, during which he also worked as a researcher in the Department of Bio-Materials. He later completed a six-month externship in implant dentistry followed by a 20-month fellowship in implant dentistry at Loma Linda University in California. Dr Loperfido has written in international publications and delivered presentations at international conferences. Additionally, he works part-time as a postgraduate clinical teacher in periodontology at Guy's Hospital, King's College, London, and teaches continuing professional development courses for dentists and dental hygienists.
