About Dr Cormac Magee
Dr Cormac Magee is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and sees private patients at The London Digestive Centre and The Princess Grace Hospital. He studied medicine at Trinity College, Cambridge, before completing his specialist training at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and University College London Hospitals. At UCLH, Dr Magee works within the Intestinal Failure and Nutrition Team, providing care for patients with a broad range of gastroenterological conditions. His clinical expertise includes the management of intestinal failure, weight loss, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrhoea, reflux, constipation, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), abdominal pain, and anaemia. He is also a highly experienced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopist and an accredited trainer in both colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Dr Magee has a specialist interest in novel endoscopic metabolic therapies and the management of complications following bariatric surgery. He has published extensively in the fields of upper gastrointestinal therapeutic endoscopy and obesity. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Magee is a dedicated educator, contributing to teaching at University College London and helping to run the Nutrition MSc programme. He is an Educational Supervisor for trainee doctors at UCLH. He has participated in numerous live endoscopy courses both in the UK and internationally, reflecting his commitment to education and advancing clinical practice. He also serves as a clinical adviser to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and is an associate editor of Frontline Gastroenterology. Dr Magee is frequently called upon by the national press to provide expert commentary on gastrointestinal conditions, including recent contributions on reflux and heartburn in The Daily Telegraph.
