About Prof Stuart Bloom
Professor Stuart Bloom is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London, with private clinics at The Wellington Hospital and the Physicians' Clinic run by HCA Healthcare UK. Prof. Bloom's particular interests include gastroenterology in general, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, diverticular disease, food intolerance, celiac disease, and gastro-oesophageal reflux. He founded the UCLH Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and is a certified bowel cancer screening colonoscopist. His areas of expertise are: • General gastroenterology • Ulcerative colitis • Crohn's disease • IBS • Diverticular disease • Diverticulitis • Food intolerance • Coeliac disease • Gastro-oesophageal reflux • Rectal bleeding • Bowel cancer screening He has been a consultant since 1996 and is chair of the British Society of Gastroenterology's IBD division. He is also the UK Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Registry's medical director. Prof. Bloom is involved in research into the causes of colitis and Crohn's disease, and he has recently co-authored a paper on the latest findings with Professor Tony Segal of the Raine Institute.
