About Dr Benjamin Warner
Dr. Benjamin Warner has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist since 2018, and he currently practices at Darent Valley Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. His work spans a wide range of gastroenterology, with special expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Hepatobiliary Medicine, and advanced endoscopy. Dr. Warner is a highly accomplished gastroenterologist and endoscopist, known for his exceptional skill in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound. Dr. Warner graduated from The Royal Free and University College London Medical School in 2006. He completed much of his medical training in the South-East of England, followed by a research fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ where he focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He was awarded an MD (Research Doctorate) from King’s College London for his work on thiopurines and their toxicity to the liver. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Warner is passionate about medical education. He is a Senior Lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School, where he received the “Best 1st Year Lecture” award in 2022. His contributions as a mentor to junior doctors were recognised in 2019 when he received the “Most Supportive Consultant” award. Dr. Warner is also heavily involved in clinical research, having published over 80 papers and abstracts with more than 700 citations. His research focuses on gastroenterology and hepatobiliary disease, and he continues to contribute to clinical trials such as the IBD Bioresource Study. In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Warner is the Clinical Lead for Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Cancer at Darent Valley Hospital, where he links to tertiary centers for case reviews. At Guy’s and St Thomas', he holds weekly hepatobiliary and hepatology clinics, where he performs advanced endoscopic procedures like cholangioscopy and ERCP.
