About Mr Arif Gul
Mr Arif Gul is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. He graduated in Medicine from Jammu University in 1999 and went on to complete higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics through the All Wales Training Programme. After achieving his FRCS (Tr & Orth), he developed specialist expertise in spinal surgery through two prestigious fellowships, the first at the internationally renowned Oswestry Spinal Unit, and the second at the AO Spine Reference Centre, University Hospital Wales, Cardiff. His fellowship training provided extensive experience across the full spectrum of spinal surgery, including minimally invasive techniques, spinal deformity correction, cervical and lumbar procedures, image-guided instrumentation, and scoliosis management. At Princess Alexandra Hospital, he is dedicated to expanding spinal services with the aim of establishing the hospital as a leading regional spine centre. Mr Gul is academically active, co-authoring a book on orthopaedic classifications and publishing over 25 peer-reviewed papers. He regularly treats conditions such as sciatica, spinal stenosis, neck and arm pain, lower back pain, and spondylolisthesis, offering procedures ranging from lumbar discectomy and fusion to cervical disc replacement and spinal decompression. Beyond medicine, he is an outdoor enthusiast and holds a Diploma in Mountain Medicine.
