About Ms Alison Luther
Miss Alison Luther is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon practising at Spire Southampton Hospital and within the NHS at University Hospital Southampton. She specialises in breast surgery and breast cancer management, with a particular focus on achieving excellent cosmetic results following cancer surgery. Since qualifying in 2008 from the University of Southampton, Miss Luther has dedicated her career to the care of patients with breast conditions. She has performed over 500 breast operations within the NHS and is experienced in breast-conserving surgery using advanced oncoplastic techniques, which allow larger portions of breast tissue to be removed while maintaining natural shape and symmetry. She also offers immediate breast reconstruction using implants and works closely with the plastic surgery team to assess options for autologous (patient’s own tissue) reconstruction. Miss Luther completed her higher surgical training in the Wessex region before undertaking a specialist fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery at University Hospital Southampton. She was appointed as a consultant there in March 2022. Her clinical interests include breast cancer diagnosis and management, breast reconstruction, and improving aesthetic outcomes after cancer surgery. Miss Luther is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, the General Medical Council (GMC), and the Association of Breast Surgeons.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
