Dr Frank Sardelic is a highly experienced Specialist General Surgeon with a strong focus on breast, thyroid, and melanoma surgery. Born in Croatia, Dr Sardelic moved to Australia as a child, growing up in Far North Queensland before settling in Sydney. He graduated from the University of Sydney with a medical degree in 1986 and completed his surgical training at Westmead Hospital, earning his Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1995.
Since 1997, Dr Sardelic has been based in Tamworth, working at Tamworth Rural and Referral Hospital and Tamara Private Hospital. His surgical expertise includes breast cancer surgery, thyroid and parathyroid procedures, salivary gland surgery, and melanoma treatment. He introduced the sentinel node biopsy technique—used for breast cancer and melanoma—to Tamworth, advancing care for local patients.
Dr Sardelic is the Medical Director of BreastScreen NorthWest Hunter New England and a member of BreastSurgANZ and the Breast Cancer Trials Group. He actively participates in international breast cancer research and oversees surgical training in Tamworth.
