Dr Adam Goralczyk is a fully EU-qualified Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon, recognised as a specialist in Poland in 2009 and listed on the GMC Specialist Register since 2010. He has worked within NHS bariatric surgery services in the UK since 2009 and was appointed as a substantive Consultant Surgeon in General, Emergency, and Bariatric Surgery at Homerton Hospital, London, in 2018.
Dr Goralczyk provides independent care across the full spectrum of major bariatric procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, mini-gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic gastric banding, as well as common revisional and emergency bariatric operations. He also has experience in more complex procedures such as duodenal switch and SADI-S. In addition to bariatric surgery, he undertakes elective laparoscopic general surgery and emergency general surgical procedures.
His clinical interests extend to laparoscopic anti-reflux and hiatus hernia surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, inguinal, femoral, incisional and umbilical hernia repair, and laparoscopic appendicectomy, alongside open hernia surgery, excision of skin lesions, and emergency laparotomies.
Dr Goralczyk is a formally appraised Educational Supervisor within the NHS and is actively involved in training and assessing fellow consultants, senior bariatric fellows, specialty registrars from the London Deanery, junior doctors, and medical students. He is a member of the General Medical Council, the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS), the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), and the Medical Protection Society (MPS).
