Er ist außerdem einer der wenigen zertifizierten Knorpel-Spezialisten in Deutschland und behandelt durch Sportunfälle verursachte Knorpelschäden an Hüfte und Kniegelenken. Weiter, ist Dr. Steens einer der wenigen Chirurgen in Europa, der im Jahr bis zu 200 "PSI Knie Prothesen" implantiert.
