About

Dr Ishfaq Hussaini is a Melbourne-based, Australian and internationally trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 30 years of specialist experience. He specialises in hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement surgery, and has extensive expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. In addition to his elective practice, he manages fractures and musculoskeletal injuries in both adults and children.

After relocating to Australia, Dr Hussaini completed the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) training programme in Melbourne and Perth and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Hussaini has undertaken extensive sub-specialty training, including a Trauma Fellowship at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne and the AOA-recognised Bendigo Orthopaedic Fellowship, where he refined his expertise in joint replacement surgery and arthroscopic procedures. He is trained in computer-navigated knee replacement and is accredited in robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery.

To ensure his patients benefit from the most up-to-date techniques, Dr Hussaini regularly attends national and international conferences and workshops. He has also completed numerous prestigious international observerships, including programmes in France, the USA, Italy and the UK, training with globally recognised leaders in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr Hussaini holds public hospital appointments at Austin Health and Western Health, where he is actively involved in training future orthopaedic surgeons and junior doctors. He also serves as a clinical tutor at the University of Melbourne, supporting the development of the next generation of medical professionals.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
