About

Dr Sujith Chacko is an Interventional Cardiologist with expertise in complex coronary and structural heart interventions. He completed his medical degree at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, in 1996, followed by physician training in internal medicine (MD) and a period working as a Consultant Physician. He subsequently undertook advanced specialist training in cardiology (DM Cardiology), along with extensive interventional cardiology and vascular training at CMC Vellore, one of India’s leading tertiary referral centres.

He later served as academic faculty at CMC Vellore, progressing to Associate Professor under the MGR Medical University, where he contributed to clinical training and academic development. In 2013, Dr Chacko relocated to Australia and worked at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, where he achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Cardiology in 2015. He then completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2016.

He currently holds a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist appointment at Lyell McEwin Hospital and works as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide, contributing to the training of medical students and advanced trainees. He also provides private practice services across Adelaide and regional centres.

His clinical interests include ischaemic heart disease, valvular disease, heart failure, hypertension and peripheral vascular disease. His interventional expertise includes complex coronary interventions using intracoronary imaging and physiological assessment, structural heart procedures including device closures and TAVR, and peripheral vascular interventions. He also has advanced skills in echocardiography for procedural guidance. He is committed to evidence-based, patient-centred cardiovascular care.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
