About

Dr. Sivan Sivaloganathan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and a specialist in robotic knee surgery, recognised as one of the few surgeons in the UK at the forefront of robot-assisted surgery. He specialises in knee pain management, knee surgery, robot-assisted knee replacements, partial knee replacements, early knee arthritis management, meniscal surgery, and tendon repairs.

Dr. Sivaloganathan studied medicine at Imperial College London and served with the British Army as a Medical Officer, where he was awarded the Herrick Medal with Clasp and the NATO Medal for his operational tour in Afghanistan. He furthered his education with an MSc in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine at University College London.

His orthopaedic training took place in Southwest London, followed by prestigious fellowships, including at the Complex Hip and Knee Unit in Montreal, Canada, and in robot-assisted complex knee surgery and trauma at Imperial College Healthcare Trust.

Dr. Sivaloganathan has a particular interest in complex and robot-assisted knee replacement surgery, with experience in both partial and total knee arthroplasty. He is also skilled in knee arthroscopy, including meniscal repair and partial meniscectomy. His approach to treating knee arthritis is holistic, focusing on early intervention to preserve joint function.

He is passionate about personalised knee replacements, aiming to preserve the native alignment of the knee to ensure a more natural post-surgery experience for patients. Dr. Sivaloganathan is an internationally invited speaker and faculty member at various symposiums, contributing to the development of robot-assisted knee surgery. As part of the global Visiting Surgeon Programme (VSP), he hosts international surgeons to share expertise and improve their techniques in robotic knee surgery.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Mr Sivan Sivaloganathan
