Originally from the United States, Dr Ginwala-Hasan is Ivy-league educated, having graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with her bachelor’s degree. Dr Ginwala Hasan completed her internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City and completed the American board of internal medicine board exams before moving to London.
During her Cardiology training in the UK, Dr Ginwala-Hasan trained in some of London’s most prestigious hospitals including Harefield Hospital and the Imperial College system. Research and Academics Dr Ginwala-Hasan has a longstanding academic background, having published articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, both in the United States and Europe, and contributed to textbook chapters. She is an active member of the London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust research department where she has been a principal investigator on major industry studies.
During her training, she was awarded the Doris Duke Clinical Research Foundation fellowship at The University of Pennsylvania and later went on to be a research fellow at Cambridge University and Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Her research interests are on preventive cardiology, lipid management, the genetics of coronary artery disease, as well as the predictive value of cardiac CT in coronary artery disease. She was also recognised by her peer group as Best of the Young and Best Teacher award during her training.
Dr Ginwala-Hasan is highly accredited and the member of several professional cardiology societies such as the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, The British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging / British Society of Cardiovascular CT, American College of Cardiology, and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Personal Dr Ginwala-Hasan was the first female cardiologist in her department at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust and remains the only female interventional cardiologist amongst her colleagues. She is known for her clear communication, warm bedside manner, and keen clinical eye.
