He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.

His main subspecialty interests are heart failure, general cardiology, heart valve disease, and advanced echocardiography.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Bhattacharyya continues to continues to lead research in the area of heart valve disease and has published more than130 papers in international journals. He is a member of the guideline writing group for aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation and stress echocardiography for the British Society of Echocardiography. He has also chaired or been a member of several committees within the British Society of Echocardiography, Royal Society of Medicine and British Heart Valve Society.

Dr Bhattacharyya is Director and Co-Director of a range of nationally and internationally recognised courses in echocardiography.
