He studied medicine at St George's Hospital and completed his specialist training in London and Cambridge, before undertaking a Research Fellowship at The Mayo Clinic, USA.

His clinical research interests include ablation strategies in those with arrhythmias accompanying congenital heart disease and heart muscle disease, risk stratification in patients and families predisposed to sudden cardiac death, and multisite pacing in heart failure patients.

Dr Lowe's work is regularly published in peer-reviewed journals. He is active in the education of trainees in his field and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London and Queen Mary University of London.
