Dr Terry Stephens
Orthopaedic Surgery
About
Dr Stephens completed his medical education at The University of Melbourne in 2006 and became a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2017. Subsequently, he dedicated 18 months to providing general orthopaedic services at Peninsula Health – Frankston Hospital.
Seeking further specialisation, Dr Stephens embarked on a transformative two-year sojourn in Canada. His time in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 2018 to 2019, was devoted to honing his expertise in hip and knee replacement surgery, with a specific focus on revision procedures addressing infection and painful joint replacements. His commitment to mastery led him to Calgary, Alberta, for a 12-month orthopaedic trauma fellowship. During this intensive period, he sharpened his skills in treating multiple injured patients and gained proficiency in managing fractures near joints, pelvic fractures, and soft tissue knee injuries.
Returning to Melbourne, Dr Stephens now holds positions in public hospitals at both the Alfred and Peninsula Health – Frankston. He extends his orthopaedic services to Frankston, The Peninsula, and the south eastern suburbs. His primary interests lie in hip and knee surgery, encompassing revision procedures. He is also well-versed in general trauma, including fractures near joint replacements, close to joints, pelvic fractures, and the management of soft tissue knee injuries.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
