About Dr Owen Roberts
Dr Owen Roberts is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Gender Dysphoria. He provides specialist care in Bristol and is fluent in English and Welsh. Dr Roberts has worked extensively in developmental psychiatry, previously serving as Clinical Director for Developmental Disorders at The Priory Group. In this role, he supervised other consultant psychiatrists managing patients with autism and related conditions. He has also worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Learning Disabilities, Forensic Psychiatry, and Mood Disorders such as depression and anxiety. His career includes consultant roles in specialist schools for children with autism and complex needs, as well as working in locked rehabilitation units supporting patients under the Mental Health Act (MHA). Dr Roberts is Section 12(2) approved, meaning he is qualified to assess and recommend treatment for individuals under the MHA. Recognised for his outstanding patient care, he was awarded the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in 2022. Dr Roberts holds a Medical Degree (MBBCh) from Swansea School of Medicine, an MSc in Operational Research from the London School of Economics, and a BSc in Mathematics from Cardiff University. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
