Lisa Harris is a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with 18 years of experience in rehabilitating adults with communication, cognitive, and swallowing difficulties caused by neurological injury or disease. She provides detailed assessment of cognitive and communication disorders resulting from conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease, brain tumours, Alzheimer’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). After completing an assessment, Lisa works closely with her clients to develop a suitable treatment plan and to provide support to the client and their family in managing cognitive difficulties such as memory or processing problems.
In addition to her work with adults, Lisa provides a paediatric service specialising in Language Processing Disorders. She uses traditional paediatric forms of treatment as well as strategies developed from her cognitive neuroscience background to enable children with language and cognitive difficulties to process and understand information more successfully.
Lisa graduated from City University in 1995 and has held several specialist posts in London NHS hospitals such as St George’s Hospital, Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, London, Harrowlands, and The Wolfson Medical Rehabilitation Centre. She has also been the head of department for two neurological rehabilitation units, Unsted Park Neurological Rehabilitation Centre and The Brain Injury Centre, The Queen Elizabeth Foundation, Banstead. Additionally, she has served as a post-graduate clinical tutor at The City University, London.
