About Mr Vel K Sakthivel
Mr Vel Sakthivel is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at BMI The Lincoln Hospital. He specialises in the following areas: • Adult Knee Problems • Sports Knee Injuries • Anterior Cruciate Ligament • Meniscal Tears • Knee replacement surgery - Total and Partial • Knee cap (Patella) Stabilisation and Replacement surgery • Paediatric Orthopaedics Mr Sakthivel has more than 20 years of experience gained internationally in the field of trauma of orthopaedics. He offers pioneering surgical techniques including trochleoplasty for the treatment of repeated knee dislocations. He also performs both total and partial knee replacement surgery. He has expertise in paediatric orthopaedics and treats conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Hip Dysplasia, foot and ankle problems, and knee problems. His focus is on the early diagnosis of problems and uses ultrasound in addition to other techniques. For anterior crucial ligament (ACL) reconstruction, he uses particular techniques that do not cause damage to your child's knee growth plate. Mr Sakthivel gained his medical degree from the University of Madras in 1993. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 1997 and of the Intercollegiate speciality board FRCS(Orth) in 2006. In addition, he holds a diploma in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University Of Cardiff.
