Mr Baghai completed his medical degree at Imperial College London Medical School in 1995, subsequently completing his basic surgical training at Guy's and St Thomas hospital. He later completed his specialist training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the London Deanery, during which he was awarded a clinical fellowship by the British Heart Foundation. After completing his fellowship and research in congenital cardiac surgery at King's College London, he was awarded a PhD.
After completing his training, he passed his board exams and became a Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was also awarded the Ethicon Scholarship by the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, out of which he completed a fellowship in Complex Cardiac and Minimal Access Surgery in Hong Kong.
He was first appointed as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgery at King's College Hospital in 2012 and has practiced there since. During his time there, he developed the minimal access program in cardiac surgery which is now one of the largest and most diverse programs in the UK.
Mr Baghai has extensive expertise in the surgical treatment and management of cardiac conditions, such as: arrhythmias, aortic aneurysm, breathing issues, coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease. He regularly performs minimal access and endoscopic procedures, including the following:

• Keyhole heart surgery
• Endoscopic coronary bypass surgery
• Septal defect surgery
• Endoscopic ablation
• Aortic root and arch surgery
