About
Most of my cataract surgery is done as a day case topical (eye drops only) anaesthesia. My nhs cataract surgery practice is mainly more difficult operations referred to me because surgery may be complicated. I don't do any refractive surgery and I don't use multifocal lenses as they can be problematic in people with retinal conditions.
Retinal surgery includes macular holes, epiretinal membranes and dealing with people sent to me to deal with complications of cataract surgery. I also look after medical retina issues such as retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy and wet age related macular degeneration and I am happy to see people with those conditions but I usually recommend nhs treatment (as the treatment is not covered by insurers, is very expensive and open ended) and will make an appropriate referral in such cases.
I do general ophthalmology but in some conditions (squints, ocular plastic surgery) I will probably advise you I am the wrong person and suggest someone more useful to see.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
