About Mr Gurpreet (Saab) Bhermi
Mr. (Gurpreet) Saab Bhermi is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital with three decades of experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions. He is an expert in cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment. He offers a modern bespoke refractive cataract surgery service, with Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) using standard and premium lens options, including toric, extended depth of focus (EDOF) and multifocal implants to meet the specific requirements of each individual patient. He has carried out over 20,000 cataract operations, achieving very satisfactory outcomes and high patient satisfaction. For glaucoma patients he offers medical, laser, and surgical treatments for all forms of glaucoma. These include Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) implants (iStent, Hydrus), non-penetrating glaucoma procedures such as deep sclerectomy, modern trabeculectomy and glaucoma tube imlant surgery (Preserflow, Baervldt and Paul tubes). The type of procedue is is tailored to meet each patient's particular situation. He is also happy to see general ophthalmic patients. Mr. Bhermi graduated from the University of Dundee in 1990 and started his career in Ophthalmology in 1992. He completed his core training at South Thames Hospital whilst undertaking research into Cataract Surgery at St Thomas' Hospital and sub-speciality Fellowships in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery at London Teaching Hospitals. Mr. Bhermi has been a substantive NHS consultant since 2006 and currently works in both the Cataract and Glaucoma services at the world-renowned Moorfield Eye Hospital.
