Mrs. Jennifer Maxine Gardner is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience supporting clients of all ages in a variety of health and community settings. Her professional background includes work in specialist university and e-mental health clinics, as well as NGO and private hospital environments, where she has focused on treating complex trauma and addictions. In addition to her clinical psychology practice, she is also a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and Clinical Supervisor for Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and Social Workers.
Mrs. Gardner completed her undergraduate and postgraduate training in Australia, earning a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Sydney, a Master of Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University, a Graduate Diploma of Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP), and a Master of Counselling from the Australian Catholic University (ACU). She is trained in the Rise Up model of Clinical Supervision and also holds an Honours degree in Fine Art along with postgraduate study in Clinical Nutrition.
Her clinical focus has always centred on working with complex presentations from age 19 through adulthood. She has a particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced complex trauma, including family of origin and attachment difficulties, single-incident trauma, grief and loss, adjustment disorders, stress-related conditions, and mood and anxiety disorders. Her practice is both neurodivergent-friendly and an LGBTQI+ Safe Space.
Mrs. Gardner offers both long-term and short-term therapy, aiming to empower individuals to improve emotional wellbeing, enhance quality of life, achieve meaningful change, and process trauma where appropriate. Her therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, relational, empathic, and collaborative. Alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), she draws from a wide range of evidence-based treatments tailored to each client’s unique needs. These include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), insight-focused and attachment-based therapies, systemic family therapies, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Grief and Loss Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
