About Prof Guy Pratt
Professor Guy Pratt is an experienced haematologist, serving as Professor of Haematology (Haemato-Oncology) at the University of Birmingham. Additionally, he holds the role of Deputy Director at the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit, overseeing haematology trials. With extensive experience and expertise, Professor Pratt is deeply involved in advancing the understanding and treatment of blood cancers. As an Honorary Consultant Haematologist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Professor Pratt is actively engaged in clinical practice, specialising in conditions such as Multiple Myeloma, Waldenstroms Macroglobulinaemia, amyloidosis, and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). He graduated from Cambridge University in 1989. Following junior doctor training in London, he pursued specialised training in Haematology in Liverpool and Leeds, where he completed an MD thesis focusing on Multiple Myeloma. Throughout his career, Professor Pratt has held various leadership positions, including serving as the clinical lead for the 2016 NICE myeloma guidelines and holding roles such as guideline lead for Haemato-Oncology at the British Society for Haematology (BSH). He has also served as a trustee for several organisations, including the UK Myeloma Society and the charity WMUK. A dedicated researcher, Professor Pratt has established numerous collaborations and contributed to clinical trials both locally and nationally. He is a co-investigator on several pivotal studies and is a member of the UK Myeloma trials group (UKMRA), contributing to advancements in myeloma research and treatment strategies.
