About Dr Fiona Wright
Professional Career Dr Fiona Wright is a skilled surgical dentist with a practice focused exclusively on oral surgery procedures. Her expertise covers a wide range of surgical interventions, including the removal of wisdom teeth, dental extractions, and mouth biopsies. Dr Wright is dedicated to providing her patients with comprehensive care, ensuring their comfort and well-being during surgical procedures. She is trained to administer local anaesthesia and intravenous sedation when necessary to enhance patient comfort. In addition to her private practice, Dr Wright plays a vital role as a Specialty Dentist in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. In this capacity, she manages patients with various oral conditions and delivers oral surgery treatments. Dr Wright is actively involved in postgraduate dental education, offering training to future dentists in the field of oral surgery. She also holds the role as the Quality Improvement Lead within her department. Outside of her clinical work, Dr Wright serves as an Officer in the Royal Air Force Medical Reserves, holding the rank of Flight Lieutenant. She is dedicated to her role and is currently undergoing training as a Medical Support Officer with 612 Squadron. Academic Career Dr Wright graduated from the University of Glasgow with Honours in 2012. Following her graduation, she practised general dentistry at Duns Dental Practice in the Borders. During this period, she pursued postgraduate training at the Edinburgh Dental Institute, where she gained valuable experience in various dental specialties, including paediatrics, restorative dentistry, special care dentistry and oral surgery. Dr Wright has achieved several notable qualifications and certifications throughout her career, including Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. She also completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation with Merit through Newcastle University. Most recently, Dr Wright earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education from the University of Dundee, where she will further expand her expertise by completing an additional Postgraduate Certificate in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety in late 2025.
