About Prof Richard Pollok
Professor Richard Pollok, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Professor of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Infection, is highly respected in the medical field. He sees patients privately at Parkside (53, Parkside, SW19 5NX) and is fully registered with the GMC with specialist certification in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. Professor Pollok completed his training at St Bartholomew's Hospital and received a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship, where he did his PhD in the field of gut immunology and intestinal infection. He is internationally recognised for his research in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) diagnosis and treatment and has more than 200 publications. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), investigating diarrhoea, gut infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other functional GI disorders, indigestion and heartburn, and bowel cancer. He sees patients from the age 16 years upwards. He is an experienced endoscopist, having performed many thousand colonoscopies and gastroscopies, and is dedicated to providing the highest level of care for his patients.
