About

Dr Helen Cox is recognised as one of London's leading consultants in paediatric allergy. She has extensive experience in treating children with a wide range of allergic diseases, including food allergy, skin allergies (eczema and urticaria), asthma, hay fever, inhalant and gastrointestinal allergies. During the consultation, she adopts a multi-system approach to diagnosis and management, addressing all manifestations of the suspected allergy to optimise clinical outcomes. She has a particular interset in managing children with severe eczema and multiple food allergy.  Allergy skin prick testing and/or blood tests, in addition to lung function testing, are carried out within the consultation. Oral food challenge testing and drug provocation testing are offered where needed for diagnostic clarity.  She provides both injectable and sublingual immunotherapy for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and asthma and has set up a service based at BUPA Cromwell offering  oral immunotherapy (OIT) to a wide range of foods inclusing nuts and sesame in a safe environment. She was previously lead clinician at St Mary's Hospital and helped develop and lead the clinical section of the Imperial Allergy MSC for many years.  She was one of the authors on the NICE guideline for eczema and has worked closely with the RCPCH developing training pathways and clinical courses in food allergy and eczema.
