About Dr Colin Drury
Mr Colin Drury is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery, practising privately at Elanic Medical and the Nuffield Hospital in Glasgow. His practice covers the full spectrum of knee problems, including sports-related injuries, degenerative joint disease and complex reconstructive procedures. In his NHS role at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, his consultant practice is focused on knee surgery but also complex trauma, infection and multidisciplinary limb reconstruction. He worka closely with plastic surgery colleagues to manage challenging cases. Mr Drury delivers an individualised, evidence-based approach to patient care, integrating shared decision-making so that treatment plans are tailored to each person’s symptoms, goals and functional demands. His experience includes the management of injuries in professional athletes and close collaboration with rehabilitation specialists, having previously held roles as team and club doctor with St Mirren FC and Kilmarnock FC in the Scottish Premiership. Originally from Paisley, Mr Drury graduated from the University of Edinburgh and completed his orthopaedic specialist training in the West of Scotland. He subsequently undertook the OrthoSports Victoria Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia before taking up his consultant post in Glasgow in 2016. He was awarded a West of Scotland travelling fellowship, which enabled further specialist exposure at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, USA, and he has also gained additional training experience at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Drury has contributed to national service development. He has been part of the steering group for the NHS Arthroplasty Rehabilitation In Scotland Endeavour (ARISE), a programme designed to improve the safety, consistency and timeliness of recovery following joint replacement surgery across hospitals in Scotland.
