About Mr Mark Jenkinson
Mr. Mark Jenkinson is a highly regarded Consultant Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon, renowned for his expertise in diagnosing and managing various hip conditions. Graduating from the University of Dundee Medical School in 2009, Mr. Jenkinson completed his specialised orthopaedic training in the West of Scotland region. He further honed his skills through a two-year fellowship in London, specialising in young adult hip surgery. As an NHS Consultant, Mr. Jenkinson serves at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital, while also providing private consultations at Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow. His clinical practice focuses on investigating and managing a wide range of hip conditions, including dysplasia, impingement, bursitis, tendonitis, avascular necrosis, sports injuries, and arthritis across all age groups. Mr. Jenkinson's expertise includes hip preservation surgery, such as hip arthroscopy and osteotomies, aimed at preserving hip function and preventing the progression of arthritis. He leads a tertiary Young Adult Hip Practice in Glasgow, specialising in peri-acetabular osteotomies for hip dysplasia patients from across Scotland. In addition to performing hip replacements and revision surgeries, Mr. Jenkinson actively contributes to the management of periprosthetic fractures around the hip joint. As a Senior Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow Medical School, Mr. Jenkinson plays a vital role in educating medical students, postgraduates, and higher surgical trainees in hip surgery. He also shares his knowledge through teaching engagements at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and collaborates with researchers at the University of Strathclyde to enhance the outcomes of hip surgery. Beyond his professional endeavours, Mr. Jenkinson maintains an active lifestyle, drawing from his passion for sports, particularly rugby. He encourages his patients to embrace an active lifestyle and enjoys exploring Scotland's scenic landscapes, especially while conquering its iconic Munros. Mr. Jenkinson holds professional memberships with the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society.
