À propos
I am a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, based primarily at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. I specialise in the management of spinal deformity in children, teenagers and young adults, working within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team treating conditions such as idiopathic scoliosis, neuromuscular deformity, skeletal dysplasia and neurofibromatosis.
My consultant career began in Oxford, where I cared for both adult and paediatric patients with the full spectrum of spinal conditions, including trauma, infection, degenerative disease and complex deformity. This experience provided a strong foundation in spinal surgery and continues to inform my holistic, long-term approach to treating young people as they transition into adulthood.
By way of background, I completed my medical training at Imperial College London with distinction before undertaking specialist orthopaedic training in London. To further strengthen my experience in spinal surgery, I completed a series of high-volume fellowships, including the National Spine Fellowship and advanced deformity fellowships at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. I was also honoured to receive competitive travelling fellowship awards from both the British Orthopaedic Association and AO Spine, enabling me to visit internationally recognised centres across the United States and Europe. These experiences provided valuable additional training in complex spinal deformity care, as well as exposure to emerging technologies such as 3D navigation and robotic-assisted surgery.
Alongside my surgical practice, I have a particular interest and expertise in non-operative management of scoliosis. I have been actively involved in the BASIS (Bracing in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis) Study, serving as Principal Investigator in Oxford and subsequently as Sub-Investigator at the Evelina. This work has strengthened my commitment to evidence-based pathways that support the right treatment, at the right time, for every patient.
My approach to care is calm, collaborative and patient-focused. I believe that clear communication and shared decision-making are essential to achieving the best possible outcomes. Whether planning surgery or exploring non-operative options, my aim is always to ensure that patients and families feel informed, supported and confident throughout their journey.
