Mr
Mr Yogesh Bhatt
Ear Nose & Throat Surgery (ENT/Otolaryngology)
About
He has 16 years of experience in ENT, and held several clinical leadership positions including Clinical Director of ENT at Royal Free Hospital and Pathway Director for Head and Neck Cancer for North East London. Mr. Bhatt is currently the Senior Endocrine Surgeon at Royal Free Hospital as well as holding Honorary Consultant positions at both University College London Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital.
Mr Bhatt is one of the few ENT Surgeons in the nation to have been presented with the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health. He sees this further training as necessary to provide exceptional levels of care to his paediatric patients. Mr Bhatt has also been a part of the council for the British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists.
Mr. Bhatt has undertaken over 1000 neck ultrasound examinations and is accredited by the Royal College of Radiologists, which is rare among neck surgeons. He underwent training in Neurosurgery at Queen Square, London before starting his postgraduate ENT training. Mr. Bhatt benefits from experience in high-volume centres of excellence including the Manchester Royal Infirmary, the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, and the Christie Hospital. After completing his general training, he was competitively awarded several prestigious fellowships such as the nationally appointed Royal College Training Interface Fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
In 2016, Mr Bhatt was awarded the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgery travelling fellowship. Through this program, he undertook international fellowships with leading endocrine surgery units in the USA, including the Massachusetts Ear and Eye Infirmary in Boston, The Moffitt Cancer Centre in Florida, and the Georgia Regents Thyroid/Parathyroid Centre in Augusta. This has equipped him with a state-of-the-art understanding of all aspects of thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He maintains strong professional links with these units and the thyroid cancer service at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Paris.
Since 2017, he has been Chairman of Royal Free Hospital's Thyroid Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and led its Parathyroid Surgery service since 2018. In addition, he contributes to research presented at World Congresses on Thyroid Cancer.
Mr Bhatt enjoys engaging in medical education; he is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at University College London Medical School Divsion of Surgery where his is also an undergraduate tutor there as well as a postgraduate tutor for foundation training doctors.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
