Mr Newman's medical journey began at The London Hospital Medical College. Following graduation, they pursued specialist training in ophthalmology, honing their skills through esteemed programmes in Bournemouth and the West of Scotland. Throughout their career, Mr Newman has sought to further their expertise through prestigious fellowships. Notably, they undertook a fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, a centre renowned for its exceptional care and groundbreaking research. Furthermore, their commitment to expanding their knowledge led them to pursue a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology, a highly specialised field focusing on the interplay between the nervous system and the eyes. This fellowship was carried out jointly at the National Hospital for Neurology (Queen Square) and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, two institutions globally recognised for their expertise in neurology and ophthalmology.
Mr Newman is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS Glasg) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). They also hold a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Medical Law.
