About Mr Will Dean
Premium Cataract Surgery in the Cotswolds, UK Mr Will Dean is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist renowned for his expertise in cataracts, cataract surgery (including premium intra-ocular lenses, and advanced cataract), blurred vision, glaucoma, and ocular hypertension. He sees patients both privately at Tetbury Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital, Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, Spa Private Medical and within the NHS through Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where where he served as Clinical Director of the Ophthalmology Department from 2022 to 2025. With a remarkable track record, he has performed over 14,000 cataract surgeries, as well as other ophthalmic procedures, showcasing his skill and dedication to his patients. His qualifications include Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), a PhD in Ophthalmic Surgical Education from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, MBChB in Medicine from the University of Leicester in 1999, an Masters degree in education (MEd) in Surgical Education from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Ophthalmology. Mr Dean completed his specialist ophthalmic training in the Severn Deanery, UK. Mr Dean is Clinical Assistant Professor at the International Centre for Eye Health, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and as an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Moreover, he contributes to the advancement of surgical skills as a member of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists' Surgical Skills faculty. He has served as a research associate at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital, USA, and four years as CBM Ophthalmologist and Director at Nkhoma Mission Eye Hospital, Malawi. His research has been published with over 40 peer-reviewed international scientific journal articles, and he is the author of a well-known comprehensive book on eye surgery. He is an active member of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London (RCOpth), where he served as the chair of the RCOpth International Committee.
