Dr. Wassim Altroudi graduated from the Medical School in Damascus, Syria, in 1999 and began his ophthalmology training at the Eye Surgical Hospital in Damascus. He obtained the Syrian Board of Ophthalmology in 2005. Subsequently, he pursued a fellowship in anterior segment ophthalmology in France. In 2007, Dr. Altroudi began his career in Dubai, UAE.
As a consultant ophthalmologist, Dr. Altroudi specializes in ocular surface diseases, particularly dry eye disease, and is among the pioneers in establishing comprehensive dry eye clinics in the UAE. His expertise extends to refractive surgery for vision correction using various techniques, including LASIK, EpiLASIK, PRK, and SMILE, as well as phakic intraocular lens implants (ICL, Artisan).
Dr. Altroudi is also renowned for his work in managing keratoconus, with numerous scientific publications on the disease. His research includes innovative techniques such as collagen cross-linking combined with topography-guided laser treatments.
