During this phase of his career, he focused on research related to genetics and early mouse embryo development. He also conducted research on lysosomal storage disorders and prion diseases, with the goal of developing drug therapy.
After his work in genetics, he entered the pharmaceutical industry, working at locations such as Oxford Science Park and the MRC Prion Unit at Queen Square, University College London.
Dr. Mohammed later re-trained as a medic through the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine, specialising in clinical oncology.
