Der Facharzt für Dermatologie Prof. Dr. med. Volker Steinkraus gründete im Jahr 1997 die Praxis und Tagesklinik Dermatologikum Hamburg. Das Dermatologikum Hamburg bietet Ihnen das gesamte dermatologische Leistungsspektrum, mit Schwerpunkten in der klassischen und operativen Dermatologie, der Therapie und Vorsorge von Hautkrebs, der Behandlung chronisch-entzündlicher Haut- und Immunerkrankungen, der ästhetischen Medizin sowie der Kinderdermatologie, an.
Prof. Dr. med. Volker Steinkraus absolvierte das Studium der Humanmedizin an der Universität Homburg an der Saar und am College of Art, Literature and Science der University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. Nach seiner medizinischen Ausbildung arbeitete Prof. Dr. med. Steinkraus als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Universitäts-Krankenhaus Eppendorf in der Abteilung für Herz-, Thorax- und Gefäßchirurgie und für 2 Jahre als Stipendiat im Institut für Pharmakologie und Toxikologie der Universität Hamburg. Im Anschluss darauf war Prof. Dr. med. Steinkraus in der Universitätshautklinik in Hamburg tätig. Im Jahr 1993 bestand Prof. Dr. med. Steinkraus die Facharztprüfung für Dermatologie und Venerologie und habilitierte sich noch im gleichen Jahr an der Universität Hamburg für das Fach Dermatologie und Venerologie. Später folgten die Zusatzbezeichnungen Allergologie und Dermatohistologie.
1997 gründete der Facharzt Prof. Dr. med. Steinkraus die Praxis und Tagesklinik Dermatologikum Hamburg mit Laboratorien sowie das Hautforschungsinstituts SIT (Skin Investigation und Technology). Später gründete der Dermatologe das Skin Biology Center Hamburg und die Stiftung Dermatologikum Hamburg zur Förderung von jungen Dermatologen aus medizinisch unterversorgten Ländern.
Der erfahrene Dermatologe Prof. Dr. med. Steinkraus teilt sein Wissen in zahlreichen Publikationen in nationalen und internationalen medizinischen Fachzeitschriften sowie bei Vorträgen, Seminaren und Vorlesungen.
